The Bakersfield Rescue Mission’s 3rd Annual Back to School Drive was a huge success because of the generosity of our community. We are so grateful for each and every donor who brought donations of school supplies to the various drop-off locations. Thank you KAXL, Bakersfield Christian Supply, Hope Christian Books, and Kern Securities for collecting the donations. With your help, we were able to provide 250 backpacks filled with school supplies to children of our Youth Outreach Program and to the children of the men and women in our Residential Program.

At our Back to School Party on August 13th, 2005 we distributed the majority of the backpacks. Paper, pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks, folders, glue, crayons, scissors, pencil boxes, and other supplies were inside the backpacks. This year, we had a prize wheel. The children had the opportunity to win additional school supplies, prizes, and art supplies. We also enjoyed pizza. Thank you Rusty’s!>/p>

We believe education will secure a positive future for the children we minister to. Having the necessary supplies will help to start the school year on the right foot. We truly appreciate your support of this program. We hope you will partner with us next year.
