Family Fellowship Park

On Friday, July 30, 2004 , children from the Summer Day Camp painted a mural for the Family Fellowship Park . The participating children are apart of the Mission ’s Youth Department. All week long, they have participated in different events each day such as, Movie Day, Skate Day, Swim Day, and Pizza Day.

Friday was Art Day. The children painted a large mural along the perimeter of the Family Fellowship Park designed by artists, John Patrick Wells and Candace Gorman. The mural features a large sun, mountains, flowers, and a representation of families with a mother, father, and three different children. The mural will help to establish a fun, positive environment for the family visitations of our Residential Program members.

Participants make a one-year commitment upon entering the Residential Program. As they are separated from their families for long periods of time, the Family Fellowship Park has been created as an area for family visitations. The goal of the park is to provide an environment conducive to the reconciliation of families.

The park currently contains a swing set and sand box. Benches will be added and a towering jungle gym is yet to be installed in the park. The completed mural and the park can be viewed by the public at the Mission ’s Open House Saturday, September 11, 2004 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm . The Mission will be dedicating a new building, the Curt Kennedy Community Center , and opening the Mission to the community for tours. Tours will be offered at 2:00 and 2:30 .
