If you have ever been curious about how many pairs of socks and underwear you can buy with $1,100, we have the answer. Wal-Mart generously made a monetary donation that we spent in their East Hills store, buying 540 pairs of men’s socks and 741 pairs of men’s underwear.

The Bakersfield Rescue Mission serves over 300 guests a day. More than 200 of those guests are men in our Homeless Intervention Services Center. In addition to providing three meals a day, housing, showers, and other services, we also provide needed clothing items. New men’s socks and underwear are one of our greatest constant needs at the Rescue Mission.

Of those 200 plus guests, 30 to 40 of those men are new guests each night. Each guest is in need of new socks and underwear. This large donation from Wal-Mart will only meet our needs for one week. We need your help. Please donate financially or donate new men’s socks and underwear.
