Vons customers have the ability to accumulate donations for the Bakersfield Rescue Mission when they purchase designated products. The program will run from March 1 through March 30, 2006 at all Bakersfield Vons Stores. Customers can “Shop and Care.”

When customers purchase participating products using their Vons or Pavilion Club Card, they accumulate a donation up to 10% of the net price. Participating products will be clearly marked by store signs and shelf tags.

Shortly after the conclusion of the month long program, customers will receive a register receipt showing the dollar amount accumulated and instructions on how to donate those funds. In Vons area of service, customers can donate to any of the worthy causes listed.

The Bakersfield Rescue Mission was chosen for the area of Hunger Relief.

Through the generous hearts of our community this program will assist us in providing for those who come to us with needs.

The Mission serves over 21,000 meals a month. Warm and safe shelter is available, as well as clean clothing, counseling, and other programs as needed. We need the assistance of the community to continue our programs. The “Shop and Care” Program at Vons is a wonderful way for the community to help the hurting homeless of our community.
