- Mentoring/Tutoring
- We are looking for volunteers to serve as mentors and tutors in our education center doing "1-on-1" mentoring and tutoring in the areas of math, science, english, and computer classes
- Game Time
- "1-on-1" or group activities such as chess, checkers, volleyball, ping pong, and bingo
- Food Drive
- Collect canned and non-perishable food items in large containers. Coordinate
with the Mission for those items to be picked up.
- Clothing Drive
- We accept all new and gently used clothing. Items most needed are:
- Jackets/Coats
- Men's pants and jeans
- Men's shirts
- Women's Blouses
- Women's Skirts
- New socks and underwear
- Shoes and sneakers
- Towel Drive
- We will accept both new and used towels. We have over 300 people taking showers daily here at the Mission.
- Bedding Drive
- We need twin sheets, blankets, pillows, and pillow cases for the guests of the Homeless Intervention Services as well as our residential programs.
- Penny Drive
- Collect pennies for the Mission. Over time pennies really add up!
- Cans for Change
- Collect cans and bottles. Turn them in at a recycling center and turn the proceeds to the Mission.
- Christmas Toy Drive
- Donate unwrapped Christmas toys for over 150 undrprivileged children that the Mission ministers to year round.
- Christian Life Training Program
- We have 100 men and women in our residential program. Share your blessing with others and sponsor one or more of these individuals this year.
- Hygiene Kits
- Always in need are toothbrushes and toothpaste, bar soap, shaving cream, disposable razors, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, brushes and combs, Bandaids, Chapstick, hand and body lotions, and tissues.
- Underwear Drive
- The Mission serves over 300 people daily who need new underwear and socks (men and women). We need all sizes from M to XXL.
- Sewing Circles
- Create banners or wall hangings for our HIS center, the men's and women's dorms or the Chapel. Make curtains, quilts, potholders, blankets, and other items.
- Awareness
- Teach children the importance of giving to the less fortunate. Have children create placemats for the special occasions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, or make Valentines Day cards or other cards t show they care.
- Fundraisers
- Sometimes your creative ideas work best for your group. Some fundraisers that have been done include: carwash, auction, variety show, matching gift challenge, and carnival.
- Specialty Item
- Items always needed are:
- Laundry Detergent (We use more than 150 lbs/week
- Coffe (We use 25 lbs/day)
- Eggs
- Milk
- Meat
- Produce
