“I Had an Emptiness Inside”

“Thank you God…this is what I needed.”
The pressure and distress of her illness contributed to John’s relapse, and he started using drugs again. By the time his sister died, he was addicted; but this time there was nowhere to go! Feeling empty inside and running out of places to stay, John called the Bakersfield Rescue Mission and learned about our Christian Life Training Program.
John loves the fact that our program is Biblically based. “This place has really helped me get closer to God. The chapel and the classes are really good for me, and I can study the Word. I love to be under the hand of God!”
John credits the Mission with saving his life. “This place has just opened up a whole new world for me. They saved my life because I wouldn’t have been able to make it if I had to be homeless, living on the streets. I couldn’t manage that with my diabetes. Thank you God!”
