The Bakersfield Rescue Mission Women’s Christian Life Training Program like the Men's is a one year in house program that is intended to give women a new way to live their lives with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
All aspects of the program are Christ centered. From the classes to the counseling and from work therapy to recreation everything that one of the disciples does revolves around the teachings and study of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Each disciple is assigned a guidance counselor who will guide and direct the individual through the program and through changing their lives. The counselor is there to help them and guide them in their new walk with Christ.
While we believe in the restorative qualities of work we do not endorse off campus jobs. Each disciple is given a “work-therapy” assignment on the campus grounds while on program but disciples are not allowed to seek outside employment while on program.
A large array of classes are taught during the year that a person is with us: Anger Management, Relationships, Bible Studies, GED if needed, Computer Classes, AA/NA, Relapse Prevention, 12-Step, and more.
Part of changing ones life is learning how to have fun in new ways also and as such is a structured part of the program. There are always weekend activities going on from BBQ’S to trips to the pool, and from going to the movies to going to concerts. The program has even been known to go to Morro Bay and Magic Mountain on occasion.
Going through the Women’s Christian Life Program has changed many, many women’s lives into positive, productive, Christ-centered lives that go on to be leaders in our community.
